Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in Nigeria’s National Assembly, has publicly disowned a viral TikTok video that depicted her dancing to “Omo Ologo,” a praise song for President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released via her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Akpoti-Uduaghan clarified that she does not own a TikTok account and urged the public to disregard the video, attributing it to a manipulated 2023 clip repurposed with “mischievous intent.”
The video in question surfaced online, showing the senator seemingly aligning herself with President Tinubu’s camp.
However, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised that the circulating content was not authentic and was created by parody accounts across various social media platforms. She stated, “I do not own a TikTok account,” and warned against being misled by such impersonations.
While expressing respect for the president, Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the public to disregard the misleading post and to be cautious of the proliferation of parody accounts that misrepresent her views and affiliations.
Her clarification comes amid ongoing political tensions and scrutiny over the actions and statements of public figures in Nigeria.
