Nigerian business mogul and politician Senator Ben Murray Bruce has sparked online conversations with his bold prediction about music star Davido’s political future.
In a recent episode of his Common Sense series, the Silverbird TV boss predicted that Davido has the potential to become the Governor of Osun State, citing the singer’s family legacy and strong political inclinations.
Senator Ben Murray Bruce has ignited widespread debate with his prediction that Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, could one day govern Osun State. Speaking on his Common Sense series, the Silverbird Group founder highlighted Davido’s unique combination of fame, influence, and a family deeply rooted in politics as indicators of his potential political success.
“David Adeleke, the global phenomenon better known as Davido, is not just an international artist and a true Nigerian superstar. He stands as one of Nigeria’s most valuable cultural exports. However, beneath his musical brilliance lies a politically conscious mind and a clear-cut ideology,” Murray Bruce said.
He revealed that his prediction stemmed from a private discussion with Davido, during which they explored the singer’s interest in politics. Drawing attention to Davido’s family background, the Senator noted that the Adeleke family has a strong political history. His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, and another uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, served as Governor under a military administration.
Murray Bruce suggested that with the right guidance and strategic planning, Davido’s political journey could mirror his family’s legacy. “Considering all these, the thought that Davido could one day aspire to become Governor of Osun State seems less like speculation and more like a realistic trajectory,” he added.
The Senator also commented on the growing trend of Nigerian entertainers entering politics, emphasizing their ability to connect with diverse demographics and inject fresh perspectives into the nation’s political space.
The prediction has sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans expressed optimism about Davido’s leadership potential, others raised concerns about dynastic politics:
-
“Even as President, he will get maximum support,” a fan wrote.
-
“Governor small, na President,” another commented.
-
“Because na only Adeleke family dey Osun abi?” a skeptical user quipped.
-
“What is he going there to do?” another added.
Over the years, Davido has actively participated in political events, particularly in Osun State. During the last gubernatorial election, he campaigned extensively for his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and celebrated openly when he emerged victorious.
Beyond Osun, Davido has shown interest in national politics. He was vocal during the Edo State gubernatorial election, criticizing police directives and questioning INEC’s integrity. Reflecting on his advocacy, he has often described himself as a champion for free and fair elections in Nigeria.
As conversations about Davido’s political ambitions continue, it remains to be seen whether the superstar will take his influence beyond music into governance.
