Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to manage and oversee the financial operations of our company. The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and providing timely and reliable financial information to support business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
- General Ledger Management: Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closings.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Present findings to senior management.
- Audit and Tax Compliance: Coordinate and assist with external audits, ensuring timely submission of required documents. Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local and national regulations.
- Financial Controls: Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency. Implement best practices and recommend system upgrades as needed.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and manage cash positions to meet operating requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Certification in Accounting such as ACCA, ICAN
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance/accounting
- Work Experience in the Oil and Gas Sector is preferred.
- Strong Knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS), and an understanding of double entries.
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant in a small independent service provider company.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Nigerian Tax laws.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management and planning.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suites (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in the use of accounting software and programs such as Sage Software.
