The Serie A has nominated Super Eagles’ striker Victor Osimhen for the Best Striker of the Season award.
The Serie A Twitter page revealed the nominees, including Lautaro Martinez and Rafael Leao of Inter and AC Milan.
Victor Osimhen is the Serie A lead goalscorer with 25 goals and led Napoli to the first title in over 30 years.
The Nigerian, alongside Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, Harry Kane and Alexandre Lacazette, are the five players who have scored 25 plus league goals in Europe’s top five divisions this season.
While Osimhen leads the goal-scoring charts, Martinez has 21, and Leao is fourth on the chart with 13 goals and eight assists.
Martinez’s inclusion in the nominees, leading his team to the Champions League final, and winning the Italian Cup make the award highly contested.
Leao’s goals took AC Milan to the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Napoli and helped them secure the top 4 spots.
Fans will decide the winner of the Best Striker title this season, with Victor Osimhen having a chance to be the first African to claim the honour.
