The anticipation is building for the upcoming nationwide protest in Nigeria, and among those voicing their support is renowned activist and musician Seun Kuti.
In support of the upcoming protest, Seun Kuti shared his thoughts:
The people of Nigeria are patient! The sad truth is that you can’t protest your way out of organized abandonment; you can only ORGANIZE. Most importantly, we can’t be afraid to be the leaders of our organizations. Only the disorganized are leaderless. It’s time for us to claim our true destiny and purpose. Protest, but we must ORGANIZE. It’s not enough to bring the system down; we must be ready with its replacement.”**
Seun Kuti further elaborated on the government’s financial policies:
The protest is a clear case of cause and effect. The government, to balance its finances, has asked only the poor and working people to foot the bill! If this government had instead increased the tax on the richest Nigerians by 70 percent and called in Amcon debts, the rich would start a civil war.”**
Seun Kuti has long been a dedicated social activist, known for his resilience and fearlessness. He has faced imprisonment multiple times but remains undeterred in his mission to advocate for justice.
Seun Kuti has also allied himself with fellow activist Very Dark Man, who shares his views on societal issues. The two have become close associates, with Very Dark Man often praising Seun for his steadfastness and independence.
When Very Dark Man faced conflicts with Paulo, Seun Kuti stood by him, even when pressured to publicly choose sides.
As Seun Kuti calls for Nigerians to organize and protest, his message resonates deeply in a country yearning for change. His emphasis on organization and leadership highlights the need for a prepared and effective movement ready to replace the current system. With figures like Seun Kuti leading the charge, the upcoming protest promises to be a significant moment in Nigeria’s ongoing struggle for justice and equity.
