Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Vice President Kashim Shettima, has clarified the relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, dismissing rumours of any tension or disagreement between them.
Baba-Ahmed, who spoke about the strong bond between the two leaders, emphasised that Shettima is not only loyal to Tinubu but would go to great lengths to protect him.
In an interview, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed explained that Vice President Shettima’s role is strongly influenced by the disposition of the President, which is a common practice in presidential systems where the vice president’s duties align with the president’s direction.
However, he asserted that there is no truth to the claims that Shettima is being marginalised or sidelined within the administration.
Baba-Ahmed further acknowledged the complexities of power dynamics within a government, noting that influential aides can sometimes affect the working relationship between leaders.
Despite this, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed remained firm in his belief that Shettima and Tinubu share a solid partnership, characterised by mutual respect and commitment to the nation’s progress.
The former adviser reiterated that Shettima’s dedication to the President is unwavering, reinforcing that the Vice President will defend Tinubu “with his life,” dismissing all speculations regarding any rift between them.
