Nigerian singer and songwriter Brymo Olawale has taken to his Instagram story to celebrate the return of Nigeria’s old national anthem.
He hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the greatest of all Nigerian presidents for reinstating the anthem, which refers to Nigeria as “Fatherland.”
Brymo expressed his joy over this change, suggesting that it allows Africa to be seen as the Fatherland and a symbol of unity through polygamy, focusing on a single family unit. He highlighted the lyrics, “In brotherhood we stand,” as his favorite part, celebrating Nigeria as a brotherhood where every girl and boy belongs.
In his own words, Brymo stated:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is officially my G.O.A.T of all Nigerian Presidents. Read the lyrics of the new national anthem; the first stanza is all you need; it asserts Nigeria as the ‘motherland’, and now Africa can be Fatherland and be the symbol of polygamy, and we can all focus on one family unit each finally. And my favorite part; ‘In brotherhood we stand’. We are all now members of the greatest cult on earth. Nigeria is the only brotherhood every boy and girl just belongs to in this country. I am very happy.”
He further declared his unwavering support for Nigeria, saying,
I am with my country, and my country is with me.”
However, while Brymo is rejoicing, not everyone shares his enthusiasm. Actress Kate Henshaw criticized the government for focusing on the national anthem amidst widespread economic hardship and poor governance. She noted that the anthem was originally created during colonial times and suggested that the government is trying to inject patriotism forcefully.
Comedian and actor Otaghware Onod, known as I Go Save, questioned the Federal Government on whether they can also bring back favorable economic conditions from the past, including old dollar prices, fuel prices, and security standards.
Actress Yvonne Jegede recently criticized Lagos Governor Sanwo Olu for the economic challenges facing residents. She questioned why the governor was providing food instead of creating jobs.
Influencer Laura Ikeji also addressed President Tinubu regarding the declining Nigerian economy, pleading for governmental intervention and even offering herself to help.
Brymo is known for his outspoken nature and has recently made bold claims about his success and personal ethics. He bragged about paying for every pleasure he has enjoyed, stating that no other artist can claim to owe nothing significant at the height of their career, adding that he hasn’t yet reached his prime.
Brymo has also had public spats with other artists, including 2face, Burna Boy, and Davido. He accused 2face of family issues, mocked Burna Boy’s personal life, and made serious allegations against Davido. These conflicts highlight Brymo’s tendency to engage in contentious and often provocative public statements.
