Twitter personality and critic Solomon Buchi has publicly condemned UK-based clergyman Pastor Tobi Adegboyega after a video of the pastor clubbing with Nigerian music stars Davido and Wizkid made headlines.
The footage, which went viral on Saturday, captured Adegboyega sitting beside Davido in a London club, a scene that sparked significant backlash online.
Reacting to the viral video, Solomon Buchi expressed his disapproval on social media, calling out Pastor Tobi for his lifestyle, which he believes is incompatible with the calling of a pastor. Buchi stated that the pastor is a “shame to the office of a pastor” and suggested that Adegboyega should step away from pastoral duties if he wants to live a luxurious lifestyle.
Tobi Adegboyega is definitely not a pastor. Such a shame to the office of a pastor. You can’t be a pastor and be like that. He should just drive his luxury cars and club and enjoy his Gucci. Stop mixing it with Jesus,” Buchi remarked.
This strong statement has ignited a mixed response from netizens:
- One Dr Gbengizzy commented, “Lol this has been very obvious for years. But oh well, he has his audience.”
- Oys Sona asked, “Who made you a judge?”
- Adun Barinbeads pointed out, “Pastor is different from man of God.”
- Capt. Jude wrote, “Go and sit down. Nobody made you a judge.”
- Aderonke199 chimed in, “Buchi, there is God and you aren’t HIM. Allow God to be the judge of that.”
While many agreed with Buchi’s criticism, others felt that the situation should be left to divine judgment.
Pastor Tobi Adegboyega is no stranger to controversy. Last year, he faced a significant scandal when Nigerian footballer Kayode Olanrewaju filed a N1 billion lawsuit against him for allegedly having an affair with the footballer’s wife, Ezinne. Kayode alleged that the relationship between his wife and the clergyman was not discreet, with the two openly attending public events and sharing intimate moments.
Despite the clergyman’s controversies, his association with high-profile individuals like Davido continues to draw attention and raise questions about the blending of secular and spiritual lifestyles.
