Sophia Momodu, the first babymama of award-winning singer Davido, has taken a legal stand against the singer’s bid for joint custody of their daughter, Imade Adeleke.
The news follows a series of allegations and counterclaims between the former couple, highlighting a turbulent co-parenting relationship.
Recently, reports emerged that Davido, a globally acclaimed artist, had filed a suit seeking joint custody of their daughter. In his suit, Davido accused Sophia of denying him access to Imade and extorting money from him. He claimed that although their romantic relationship had ended years ago, Sophia had refused his offer of a house and instead demanded a N5 million monthly rent. Davido also accused Sophia of obstructing his attempts to see their daughter.
In response, Sophia Momodu has contested Davido’s claims. She disclosed that their affair continued from 2020 to 2022, overlapping with his relationship with Chioma. Sophia refuted the allegations of denying Davido access to Imade, asserting that the singer had abandoned their daughter because she refused to engage in sexual relations with him.
Sophia has now filed a comprehensive 102-paragraph affidavit through her legal team, led by Dr. Anthony Idigbe SAN of Punuka Attorneys and Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun, opposing Davido’s request for joint custody. The next court hearing for this contentious case is scheduled for Friday, July 5, 2024.
