Sophia Momodu, the mother of music star Davido’s first child, Imade, has recently thrown subtle shade at the singer while reflecting on their trip to Disneyland.
In a post on Snapchat, Sophia claimed that a promise made to her child was intentionally broken, suggesting that Davido failed to keep his word about taking Imade to the theme park.
Sophia’s post read:
1 year ago, I fulfilled a promise that was intentionally broken to a child cos NOT Sophia’s daughter Chile.”
This indirect jab at Davido comes in the wake of ongoing tensions between the former couple. Weeks ago, Sophia publicly criticized Isreal DMW, Davido’s logistics manager, for attributing her efforts to the singer. Isreal had commented that Davido’s money funded Sophia’s vacation to Monaco with Imade, a statement that Sophia vehemently denied. She clarified that she does not receive financial support from Davido and that Isreal later apologized privately.
The relationship between Sophia and Davido soured further after the singer declared his love for his now-wife, Chioma Rowland, and reconciled with her. This led Sophia to express her frustration publicly, including a post about not tolerating disrespect and accusations of financial abuse.
In June, Davido filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody of Imade, accusing Sophia of denying him access to their daughter and extorting money from him. Sophia opposed the joint custody request, citing reasons including the death of Davido’s son and questioning his ability to raise Imade independently.
Amidst these legal battles and public disputes, Sophia has also shared fond memories of her involvement in her daughter’s schooling. She reminisced about attending Imade’s school for World Career Day as a social brand influencer, noting how much she enjoys seeing children dream big and think outside the box.
