Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has made his long-awaited return to social media after being released from detention on January 21, 2025, following a two-month stay in custody.
His release came after a Federal High Court in Abuja granted him N20 million bail on January 16, 2025, following an arrest in Owerri, Imo state, during a performance. The court required a surety of the same amount, and Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, confirmed his release shortly after.
The rapper had been detained for about two months, and upon his return online, he posted a cryptic message. In his first social media appearance since his arrest, Speed Darlington shared a voiceover and images of bulls, reflecting on the idea of stepping back to regain energy before returning stronger. Referring to himself as “Akpi,” he likened the process to bulls fighting—one may retreat not out of fear, but to prepare for a comeback.
This message has sparked reactions on social media, with fans speculating about its meaning. Some interpreted the post as a metaphor for his resilience and upcoming plans, while others eagerly awaited his next move. Fans quickly flooded the comment section with supportive messages, expressing their excitement for his return and what he has in store for 2025.
In a statement, one user noted, “That energy wey you go gather, use am drop banger this year for us,” while others congratulated the rapper for surviving a tough time. As Speed Darlington gains momentum, his followers are excited about what the future holds for the artist.
