Super Eagles striker Kayode Olanrewaju has taken legal action against UK-based clergyman Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, filing a N1 billion lawsuit over allegations of an adulterous affair with his wife, Ezinne.
The lawsuit, filed in the Federal Capital Territory High Court, also seeks to dissolve Kayode’s marriage and gain custody of their three children.
The drama began months ago when reports surfaced that the married pastor was allegedly involved with Ezinne, introduced to him by an associate of media personality Daddy Freeze. As the scandal unfolded, Kayode’s marital woes deepened, leading him to seek a divorce and hefty damages for the harm caused by the alleged affair.
Kayode, who plays for Turkish club Genclerbirligi, accused Pastor Tobi of not being discreet about the affair, citing public appearances and intimate moments between the clergyman and Ezinne. In his court filings, he argued that his marriage, which began in 2013, had broken down irretrievably due to repeated acts of adultery by his wife, involving Pastor Tobi and other men.
The marital conflict intensified earlier this year when Ezinne sued Kayode, accusing him of making false allegations of infidelity and witchcraft against her and her mother, and damaging her phone. In response, Kayode filed a cross-petition, asserting that Ezinne had not only been unfaithful but also kidnapped their children, who were later rescued by the Department of State Services personnel.
