The Super Falcons of Nigeria beat 2023 world cup hosts New Zealand in a friendly game in Turkey on Tuesday. New Zealand dominated the game in the opening minutes, and pinned the Falcons to their half, prompting goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie to produce saves for her team.
The Super Falcons responded with Oshoala having a goal-bound effort deflected for a corner on 32 minutes.
The breakthrough came as team captain, Onome Ebi, headed in the first goal for the team in the 34th minute, Onyinye Echegini doubled the lead in the 49th minute and Desire Oparanozie made it 3-0 in the 94th minute.
The Super Falcons will be at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup set to take place in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 20.
The Falcons are in Group B alongside Australia, Canada and the debutant Republic of Ireland at this year’s women’s World Cup.
They will open their campaign against Canada on July 21 in Melbourne.
