In a shocking turn of events, renowned supermodel Gigi Hadid, aged 28, found herself in legal trouble during a girls’ trip to the picturesque Cayman Islands. According to reports, Hadid was arrested and charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia upon her arrival at Owen Roberts International Airport.
Local outlet Cayman Marl Road revealed that customs officials discovered “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in Hadid’s luggage after she and her friend arrived on a private plane. Subsequently, Hadid and her companion were arrested on suspicion of importing ganja and importing utensils for cannabis consumption. They were then taken to the Prisoner Detention Center, but later released on bail.
The authorities determined that the marijuana was for personal use only. However, Hadid and her friend faced charges of importation of marijuana and importation of utensils related to cannabis smoking. Two days later, during a court appearance on July 12, Hadid and her companion pleaded guilty to the charges and were each fined $1,000.
While this incident has certainly put a dent in Hadid’s otherwise impeccable reputation, it points at the fact that even public figures are not immune to legal consequences.
As Hadid navigates this challenging chapter, only time will tell if she can overcome this setback and continue to flourish in the highly competitive world of modelling.
