Ogun State government has advised gas outlets throughout the state to refrain from indulging in unethical practices such as manipulating fuel meters.

The Ogun government warned that such activities would result in severe consequences.

Olugbenga Dairo, the Commissioner for Transportation in Ogun state, issued the warning at a meeting with the state’s monitoring committee members in Abeokuta on Monday.

Dairo emphasized that the current administration would not tolerate any aggressive actions that would reduce the value of fuel purchased by motorists and other citizens of Ogun state.

The monitoring team, according to the commissioner, was formed to solve shortcomings in transportation charges and gasoline, as well as to put an end to aggressive activities by marketers, such as tampering with meters, to avoid adding to the burden on those who are already suffering from the increase in fuel prices.

He emphasized that any union that fails to comply with agreed-upon resolutions will be perceived as anti-government, and tasked them with ensuring that their members do not unilaterally raise transportation rates.

Meanwhile, he assured the people that the government was committed to alleviating their burden throughout the economic slump.
