Tania Omotayo, the ex-girlfriend of Nigerian music star Wizkid, recently shared a personal story about being misdiagnosed.
In a post on her Snapchat, Tania revealed that around this time last year, she was fighting for her life. It took her almost two months to recover after the misdiagnosis, but she remains thankful for her health and believes that God’s goodness saw her through.

Many followers sympathized with her experience and shared their own stories of misdiagnosis in the comment section.
One commenter, Ezeqwesiri, remarked, “Misdiagnosis is as dangerous as an actual diagnosis. Imagine treating cancer that you don’t have, chemotherapy and all.”
Others chimed in, with users such as I Am Emy saying, “May we never be victims of people’s mistakes and negligence,” while another user, Christian Gold, added, “Good health is underrated.”
The experience of misdiagnosis is not new to Tania. In 2022, she publicly discussed her battle with endometriosis, a painful disorder that caused her to suffer from extremely heavy periods. The white doctors treating her at the time dismissed her symptoms, with one even telling her father that she was seeking attention, claiming there was nothing wrong with her.
Tania’s struggle with endometriosis also played a role in her decision to go public with her pregnancy announcement. She feared she would lose her baby due to her condition and wanted to share her journey.
Tania Omotayo is known for her past relationship with Wizkid, with whom she dated for five years between 2011 and 2016. The couple split when Wizkid impregnated his second baby mama. Despite the split, their relationship was highly regarded at the time, and Wizkid even referenced Tania in his hit song ‘Jaiye Jaiye’ featuring Seun Kuti.
Reflecting on her time with Wizkid, Tania has opened up about the challenges and emotions she faced being in a high-profile relationship, as well as her feelings on being constantly referred to as Wizkid’s ex.
