Taye Arimoro drags Peggy Ovire to court over alleged assault on a movie set, escalating their ongoing clash that has captured public attention in Nollywood.

Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has taken legal action against his colleague, Peggy Ovire, after accusing her and her team of physically attacking him during a film shoot.

Last week, Arimoro shared a viral video detailing his experience. He alleged that Peggy ordered her driver to block his car so he could not leave, and that his tyres were deflated in the process. He also displayed injuries on his gums and lips, insisting they were sustained during the altercation.

Peggy, responding shortly after, countered his claims. She alleged that Arimoro assaulted two crew members and that by the time she stepped in, the situation had already gotten out of hand. According to her, Arimoro drove off while she stood beside his vehicle and that her driver was later found bleeding from the ear, supposedly after being hit several times.

However, CCTV footage from the scene later made its way online and appeared to contradict Peggy’s account. The video showed her pulling off her wig, handing a phone to someone nearby, and preparing to confront Arimoro directly.

On Instagram, Arimoro posted screenshots of legal documents filed against the actress. He is demanding a public apology and N100 million as compensation for the alleged assault.

In a letter dated November 18, 2025, from Inibehe Effiong Chambers, the actor claimed that his rights were violated on the movie set. He stated that his vehicle was blocked by the production manager, with another car sealing off the exit. He added that he began a live video on Instagram for his safety after receiving threats, and accused Peggy of attempting to delete evidence from his phone.

He listed injuries such as a fractured mandible, bite marks, and bruises, stating that the incident caused him emotional distress, psychological strain, and financial loss.

His legal team insists that his rights to movement, personal liberty, and dignity were compromised. They issued Peggy a 7-day ultimatum to respond or face further action.

Sharing the notice online, Arimoro wrote:

@peggyovire,
PRE-ACTION NOTICE
In light of the incident referenced in this correspondence, you have been served.
Kindly forward all responses to my solicitors as indicated.”
