Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has shared why she decided to change her name after tying the knot with singer, Mr Eazi.

Speaking in an interview with BBC on Wednesday, Temi explained that the decision was hers alone, emphasizing that she is now a married woman and felt it was natural to take her husband’s name.

I’m now a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice. I also respect a woman’s ability to choose. Moving in silence allows you to build the story you want and share it when and how you’re ready,” she said.

Temi further explained that keeping her relationship private gives her control of her narrative, allowing her to choose when and how to share details about her life.

In August, Mr Eazi and Temi tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony at Hallgrimskirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland. Their wedding made headlines after the couple revealed in Vogue Magazine that they celebrated their union in three countries, a court wedding in Monaco on May 9, a traditional wedding in Dubai on July 5, and a white wedding in Iceland.

Following their high-profile wedding, Temi updated her social media bio, dropping her father’s surname and taking her husband’s name, Ajibade.

She also revealed why Iceland was their choice for the white wedding, sharing that she and Mr Eazi had fallen in love with the country’s people, nature, and energy since their first trip there in 2021.

Sharing unseen footage from the ceremony, Temi described their vows as a sacred moment made before God, their families, and their closest friends.
