TG Omori, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated music video producers, took to Twitter to set the record straight about the entertainment industry’s response to his recent health challenges.
Omori, who has been battling kidney failure, thanked his friends and industry colleagues for their unwavering support, which he said started long before his struggles became public knowledge.
In his tweet, TG Omori wrote:
“All I needed was your prayers, moral support, and love, and this I am grateful to have gotten in abundance. The industry and friends have been solidly behind me, months before it all came public. Please ignore the clout desperate dogs. Jesus is King.”
This statement directly contradicts claims made by controversial singer Portable, who had earlier criticized the music industry for allegedly not offering financial assistance to TG Omori during his time of need. Portable accused some entertainers of prioritizing clubbing over helping a colleague in distress, sparking a wave of discussions online.
However, TG Omori’s tweet paints a different picture, emphasizing the non-financial support he has received and his contentment with the moral backing from his peers. Netizens have quickly picked up on the drama, with many applauding TG Omori for addressing the rumors and maintaining his faith.
Comments from fans included sentiments like:
– “I’m sure Portable didn’t even reach out to him.”
– “I love how he has come out to speak up. You will be great and up soonest. You are a great talent.”
– “They don’t know… They think everything revolves around Instagram! People have real relationships outside SM!”
TG Omori’s health struggles became public about a week ago when he shared his battle with kidney failure, revealing that an earlier transplant had failed and that his brother had stepped in as a donor. Despite these challenges, Omori remains optimistic, buoyed by the support he has received from the industry and his fans.
TG Omori is known for directing some of the most iconic music videos in recent times, including Ayra Starr’s “Rush” and several of Asake’s hits. His influence in the Nigerian music scene is undeniable, and his recent public revelations have only deepened the respect many have for him.
Meanwhile, Portable, who initially called out the industry for not helping TG Omori, is enjoying personal success, having recently secured a 10-year work permit in Canada. Portable’s announcement has been met with mixed reactions, with some fans commending his acknowledgment of God’s grace, while others caution him to temper his behaviour.
