The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has revealed that renovating the Third Mainland and Carter bridges in Lagos will cost N21 billion and 25 billion, respectively.
Umahi announced this during a Friday tour of critical infrastructure projects in Lagos with the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works.
The Minister stated that an emergency declaration is required for the two bridges in order to avoid an N6 trillion reconstruction expense.
He warned of the significant financial and safety dangers posed by the prolonged delays in repair efforts.
In his words:
“The cost of rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge is estimated at N21 billion.
“…I want the National Assembly to note that this is the worst of our challenges on these two bridges. The cost of rehabilitation of Carter Bridge is N25 billion.”
