Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard, has been given a major boost ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid as a veteran defender, Thiago Silva, has returned to first-team training.
The 38-year-old has been unavailable since picking up a knee injury in February but is now returning to full fitness. It is not yet clear if the centre-back will be back in time to start the quarter-final but he did appear to be taking a full role in training.
Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante, who both missed the defeat to the Wolves, were also in action on Monday.
The Blues who are 11th in the league, with their 3rd manager of the season, face another big week with a trip to Madrid on Wednesday followed by a visit from Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Frank Lampard is confident his team can pull a surprise win over Real Madrid.
