Vice-President Kashim Shettima has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not working against the interests of Northern Nigeria.

Shettima made the comment on Wednesday in Kano while hosting a Federal Government team led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Bajabiamila, on a condolence visit following the death of his mother-in-law. Hajiya Maryam Abubakar.

The vice-president mentioned the selection of the two Defence Ministers, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, all from the North, as proof of the president’s dedication to the region’s development.

He urged Nigerians to back Tinubu’s efforts to make Nigeria great, emphasising that governance transcends political party connections.

Shettima emphasised that national unity and growth were more essential than political disputes.

He commended the Kano State Government, led by Gov. Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), for their assistance during his mourning.

Shettima stated that the country had progressed past politics and was now in the process of governance, emphasising the importance of collaborative efforts to attain greatness.

He reminded everyone that Nigeria’s greatness was a common duty, and that political party connections should not be used to divide and destroy.

The vice president urged all political parties to work together to ensure Nigeria’s greatness, claiming that it was everyone’s job.
