Toke Makinwa, popular media personality and former OAP, is gearing up for her 40th birthday celebration on November 3rd.
In anticipation of this milestone, she is holding a special Thanksgiving service on October 20th, inviting close family and friends to join her at a service in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Toke confirmed the event on her Instagram page, where she also revealed that disc jockey Dorcas Fapson had flown into Lagos to attend the Thanksgiving. In her post, Toke counted her blessings, reflecting on how God continues to show His greatness in her life. She shared,
God just be steady showing off with me. Omo Yoruba ni mi o. For yesterday, today, and a promised Tomorrow. Thank you, God. Thank you that you are not a MAN; thank you for EVERYTHING.”
This Thanksgiving service comes as Toke takes time to look back on her journey. Just a few days ago, she expressed amazement at how quickly the year 2024 had flown by, remarking that only ninety-two days remained in the year.
In addition to celebrating her upcoming birthday, Toke recently addressed some misconceptions about her stance on men and marriage. She clarified that contrary to popular belief, she does not hate men or bash marriage. In fact, Toke stated that she’s a strong advocate for marriage because she believes “2 is better than 1.”
Earlier this year, Toke responded to a troll who mocked her for being unmarried. The troll claimed that she had passed the single phase and entered the “unmarried era.” Toke gracefully shut down the negativity, expressing her faith that God would write her own story, and that her detractors would be there to congratulate her when it happens. She also responded to a comment on X (formerly Twitter) where a user praised her for looking hot in her 40s. Toke cheekily corrected him, stating she hadn’t yet reached 40 but assured him she would look even hotter when she does.
As Toke approaches her milestone birthday, she shared a heartfelt testimony about a prophetic message she received over a decade ago. In a touching Instagram post, Toke reminisced about a moment when a prophetess declared that “Eyes haven’t seen, Ears haven’t heard what God is about to do with your life.” At the time, Toke was in a difficult place—jobless, unsure about her career, and generally unhappy. Today, she is filled with gratitude, acknowledging how far she has come and testifying to God’s faithfulness in her life.
Reflecting on her journey, Toke shared,
The girl you saved has come to say Thank You. God has truly used my life as a channel to show off His goodness. If He sent forth a word over your life, wait for it. He does this little thing with time, but He never misses.”
