Tom Cruise allegedly opted out of attending the Oscars on Sunday, March 12, to avoid a potentially uncomfortable encounter with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman.
According to insiders, the star of Top Gun: Maverick did not attend the ceremony because Kidman was present. The former couple had a bitter divorce more than 20 years ago, and Cruise’s movie was nominated for six awards at this year’s ceremony, including Best Picture.
Cruise and Kidman, who split in 2001, reportedly had differences due to her refusal to join him in the Church of Scientology. A source close to Cruise informed DailyMail.com that the actor did not attend the event to avoid a run-in with Kidman.
However, some sources claimed that his absence was due to scheduling issues and not personal reasons. Tom Cruise and Kidman have not been seen together at the same Oscars events for several years.
Kidman, who walked the red carpet with her husband Keith Urban, was notably absent from the Oscars luncheon that Cruise attended last month.
