Nollywood actress Toni Tone has opened up about her deeply personal and emotional love story with her fiancé, Taiwo Ogebule.
In a heartfelt interview on the We Need To Talk podcast, Toni became tearful as she described the unwavering love and reassurance she receives from Taiwo.
He loves me in a way that I don’t question anything,” Toni shared, her voice breaking with emotion. “I have never been in love like this before. I can be on Mount Everest, but I am so sure of the love he has for me. He loves me harder than I feel like I love him. This is the first time in my life that I love someone, and he loves back. I feel so blessed to have met him, and the distance is easy because he loves me with everything.”
Toni candidly discussed the challenges of being in a long-distance relationship. Although the physical separation can be tough, she feels secure because of Taiwo’s consistent actions and genuine commitment. “Long-distance relationships can be hard, especially for women, because they don’t feel reassured,” she explained. “I feel reassured in this relationship, not just from his words but his actions. I am his number one priority.”
The conversation also touched on societal perceptions of successful women in relationships. Toni noted that as a woman becomes more successful and famous, fewer men approach her. “Men assume she’s either too expensive or has countless suitors,” she said, adding that women gain a clearer understanding of what they want and what they won’t accept as they grow in self-awareness.
Her fiancé, Taiwo, also shared his experiences of overcoming societal pressure and doubts. Despite people telling him he wasn’t wealthy enough to be with Toni, he learned to brush off the negativity and unlearn the idea that one must be financially overachieving before entering a committed relationship.
Reflecting on her past experiences, Toni recalled ending a relationship after a first date because her love interest wanted her to quit her job to start a business, prioritizing his needs over her dreams.
She has also openly discussed how not every woman seeks marriage from a relationship. “Some women just want to have fun, explore the world, and share simple moments with their partners,” Toni emphasized, defending women’s right to make their own choices.
