Nollywood actress and politician, Tonto Dikeh, has firmly refuted claims of her arrest and detention.
The movie star took to her Instagram page to address the circulating rumours, making it clear that she was neither arrested nor detained by any law enforcement agency in Nigeria. She assured her followers that she is safe at home, enjoying the goodness of God.
Tonto Dikeh, known for her outspoken nature, emphasized her commitment to being a law-abiding citizen. In her role as a member of the diplomatic society, she stated that she holds herself to a higher standard, living above board in all her actions. She clarified that there is a significant difference between assisting law enforcement agencies in their duties and being involved in criminal activities.
Let me categorically state that I was not arrested neither was I detained by the police or any law enforcement agency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I am in my house enjoying the goodness of God,” Tonto wrote.
She further declared that at no point in her life has there ever been any form of warrant issued against her by the Nigerian police. Tonto warned those spreading false narratives about her, stating that she would take legal action against anyone attempting to defame her character or brand.
In a recent incident, Tonto faced backlash for supporting President Tinubu, advising Nigerians to act wisely and suggesting that protests may not be the most effective way to address the nation’s issues. Despite the criticism, Tonto remains resolute in her stance, offering alternatives such as establishing a representative group to advocate for the people.
