Nollywood star Toyin Abraham has opened up about the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the making of Elevator Baby, a film that earned widespread acclaim. In an interview with Pulse NG, Toyin revealed that she was seven months pregnant with her son, Ireoluwa, during the movie’s production.

The actress shared how the film’s director, Niyi Akinmolayan, unknowingly approached her with the script, which required her to portray a pregnant character. At the time, Toyin had been keeping her pregnancy private. When Niyi learned of her condition, she insisted he seek permission from her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, before proceeding.

Kolawole not only approved but also provided unwavering support by being present on set throughout the shoot. Toyin disclosed that she had two nurses on set to cater to her needs, ensuring her safety and well-being during the physically demanding production.

I was pregnant with Ireoluwa, and Ire will be 6 in August when we shot this movie. When I got pregnant, I didn’t want people to know. So, I got a call from Mr. Niyi, and he said there’s a scene I would do, and they’d make me up to look pregnant. I told him, ‘Did you know I’m actually 7 months pregnant?’ I asked him to speak to my husband. He came to the house, and my husband agreed. My husband was on set, and two nurses were there for me. It was a crazy shoot, but I enjoyed myself,” she said.

Toyin’s resilience and dedication to her craft are traits her fans have admired over the years. However, like many in the limelight, she has faced personal challenges.

In 2023, the actress spoke candidly about experiencing a miscarriage, an event that left her heartbroken. She shared how the incident led to body-shaming comments due to bloating caused by the ordeal. Despite this, Toyin remains open about her journey, using her platform to connect with and inspire others.

In 2022, rumours swirled about an in-house crisis in her marriage. Reports claimed Kolawole was dissatisfied with Toyin’s behavior, including skipping church and not sleeping at home for days. The couple firmly debunked the speculations, demonstrating their union’s strength through public displays of affection and mutual respect.

In a past interview with Media Room Hub, Toyin affirmed her unwavering commitment to her marriage, expressing her belief that her relationship is divinely ordained. “I can’t imagine myself and my husband not living together. I find comfort knowing my marriage is in God’s hands,” she said.
