Arsenal are confident of signing Ajax defender Jurrien Timber for their manager Mikel Arteta this summer.
Even though Ajax rejected the Gunners’ initial offer of £30 million, they plan to come back with a better offer and are optimistic that they can reach an agreement on a price with the Dutch powerhouses to sign Timber.
Over the past year, Timber has been heavily linked with a transfer to Arsenal’s Premier League rival, Manchester United. His previous manager Erik Ten Hag also wants Timber. The Netherlands international was seen attending the all-Manchester FA Cup final at Wembley a few weeks ago, fueling speculation that Man United was prepared to make a fresh bid to recruit Timber earlier this month.
According to De Telegraaf, Timber was in London with his agent. To conduct negotiations with Arsenal over a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The report added that Timber prefers a move to the North London club. And he is keen to leave Ajax this summer.
