Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commander of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade in Jalingo, Taraba State, has stated that combating terrorism remains one of the military’s top priorities.
According to him, the military will do all possible to ensure the safety and security of the lives and property of the decent people of the state and Nigerians in general.
Uwa mentioned this in a statement made accessible to media in Taraba state on Thursday while heralding the command’s enormous strides. He asked the general people to be watchful and report any suspicious actions to the proper law enforcement agencies.
The statement, issued on his behalf by the command’s acting spokesperson, Captain Oni Olubodunde, stated that the forces had once again dismantled a renowned kidnapping racket that was terrorizing areas of the Taraba’s Jalingo and Lau local government councils.
The suspects, namely Ali Idi and Haruna Umar, were caught on October 22, 2024, during a raid on a small hotel in the Mayo Dassa region of Jalingo, where they were hiding.
He said:
“Acting on an intelligence report, the first two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar, were apprehended on 22 October 2024 during a raid at a local hotel in the Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.
“A search of their mobile phones revealed incriminating evidence, including a photograph showing Haruna brandishing an AK-47 rifle alongside another individual at a yet-to-be-identified location.”
