Mr. Nigeria pageant winner, Ugo Nwokolo, has shared his perspective on why Nigerian DJ and billionaire heiress, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, remains unmarried.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Ugo weighed in on Cuppy’s approach to relationships and offered advice to women with similar mindsets.
Ugo suggested that DJ Cuppy’s single status stems from her preference for men of the same social status. He stated that if she genuinely wanted to settle down, she would consider the thousands of messages from potential suitors in her social media DMs.
DJ Cuppy, personally, I feel she isn’t ready to get married because if she is, there is one thing she needs to do, let her go through her DM across all social media platforms. She is going to see at least tens of thousands of DMs from men,” Ugo said.
He emphasized that not all the men in her inbox could be gold diggers, and at least a few of them might have genuine intentions. Ugo encouraged women in similar positions to consider dating men of lower social status, arguing that such preferences might limit their opportunities for love.
DJ Cuppy has openly shared her quest for a partner. At one point, she took her search to LinkedIn, humorously posting about looking for a “finance man” who is six feet tall with brown eyes.
Her relationship history has also been a topic of public interest. In November 2022, she got engaged to British boxer Ryan Taylor just a month after meeting him. However, their engagement ended in 2023, leaving Cuppy reflecting on the decision, describing 2023 as the worst year of her life.
Since then, the billionaire heiress has made bold moves in her pursuit of love. From declaring herself “wife material” with posts of her doing laundry to making deep prayers for a godly husband, Cuppy has shown determination in finding the right partner.
Cuppy’s mother, Nana Otedola, has also expressed her desire for her daughter to find a life partner. Following Cuppy’s baptism in May, Nana prayed for a suitor who shares a strong connection with God. Cuppy herself has echoed these sentiments, stating that her future husband must seek God before finding her.
While she openly desires companionship, Cuppy has often approached her single status with humor. In one instance, she joked about listing “Jesus” as her emergency contact on forms. She even considered switching her preferences, pondering whether to marry an Indian man.
