Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has dismissed rumors of a potential departure from Anfield following Jurgen Klopp’s exit this summer. In an interview with the club’s official website, the Dutch defender expressed his dedication to Liverpool and assured fans of his presence in the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Addressing the managerial transition, Van Dijk emphasized the club’s focus on appointing a new manager and reiterated his contentment with Liverpool. He acknowledged the imminent changes within the team but remained optimistic about the future.
“The focus is now on the last two games and then the club will focus on who the new manager is and there will be a big transition and I am part of that,” said Van Dijk after Sunday’s 4-2 win at home to Tottenham.
“There is nothing for me to discuss because there is no news, I think the club is very much busy with who is going to be the new manager and that is the main focus.
“Like I said I am very happy here, I love the club and you can see that as well. It’s a big part of my life already, and that is all I can say.”
Reflecting on his tenure under Klopp and the impending emotional farewell, Van Dijk expressed pride in his association with the manager and the success they achieved together. Despite the behind-the-scenes developments, he emphasized the team’s commitment to performing on matchdays.
As Klopp prepares to hand over the reins to Dutchman Arne Slot, Van Dijk’s reassurance provides stability amidst the managerial transition at Liverpool, signaling his unwavering dedication to the club’s objectives.
