Vic O Announces Retirement from Music, Citing Lack of Appreciation from Nigerians

Vic O, the renowned musical artist and rapper, has made a significant decision to retire from the music industry. In an Instagram video, he conveyed his retirement announcement, expressing his disappointment with the lack of appreciation he receives from Nigerians for his music.

He asserted that Nigerians do not deserve him and that he deserves better treatment than what he has received.

This decision marks a turning point for Vic O, who has long struggled with recognition and acknowledgment within the Nigerian music scene. His frustration with the industry’s failure to appreciate his talent and contributions was evident in his announcement.

This retirement announcement follows previous instances where Vic O felt snubbed by the music industry, notably during the Headies awards in September 2022, where he expressed his dismay at being overlooked once again for an award.

Additionally, Vic O’s challenge to MI for a rap battle in 2020 showcased his determination to assert himself within the industry and demand recognition for his skills. Although MI accepted the challenge, it ultimately did not materialize into a battle.

Vic O’s decision to retire mirrors similar sentiments expressed by other artists like Terry G earlier in the year. Terry G, in his own retirement announcement, cited a lack of success in the music industry and a lack of support from industry colleagues as reasons for stepping away from music.
