Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface scored a remarkable brace for Bayer Leverkusen, contributing to their impressive 4-1 victory against newly-promoted Heidenheim.

Bayer Leverkusen has been a force to be reckoned with this season, boasting four wins and a draw in the Bundesliga. Key to their success has been Nigeria’s Victor Boniface, who has seamlessly integrated into their lineup since his transfer from Belgian club Royale Union SG.

Under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, Boniface led the attack as Heidenheim made their visit to Bay Arena, where Leverkusen quickly asserted their dominance. In the 5th minute, Boniface had an opportunity to score, but his initial shot was blocked by a defender. Nevertheless, he didn’t have to wait long to make his mark.

Just four minutes later, Boniface received a pass from Exequiel Palacios and swiftly darted forward, unleashing a powerful shot that found the bottom right corner of the net.

While Bayer Leverkusen continued to create chances in the first half, they were unable to add to their lead before halftime.

In the second half, Bayer Leverkusen maintained their intensity but conceded a goal against the run of play when Eren Dinkci scored for Heidenheim in the 58th minute.

However, Leverkusen quickly regrouped, and in the 63rd minute, Jonas Hofmann’s strike restored their lead. Boniface’s standout performance continued when he converted a penalty in the 75th minute, securing his brace and making it 3-1.

With this feat, Boniface became only the third player in Bundesliga history to score two or more goals in three of his first five games. He joined the ranks of Erling Haaland and Jan Mattsson.

Amine Adil added a fourth goal for Bayer Leverkusen in the 82nd minute, and Boniface was substituted two minutes later.

The match concluded with a resounding 4-1 victory for Bayer Leverkusen at Bay Arena, propelling them to second place in the Bundesliga standings. Boniface’s goal tally for the German top-flight now stands at six for the season, solidifying his status as a rising star in the league
