Van Dijk, who joined Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018, has made 222 appearances for the club. During his time at Anfield, he has been instrumental in the team’s success, contributing to seven major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup.

In a statement to Liverpoolfc.com while in Singapore, Van Dijk shared his excitement about the captaincy, stating that he will do everything in his power to make everyone proud and happy with him and the football club. His appointment as captain reflects the high regard and respect he commands among his teammates and fans alike.
