VP Shettima off to America for 2024 US-Africa Business Summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima will leave Abuja tonight for Dallas, United States of America to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Corporate Council on Africa’s 2024 US-Africa Business Summit.

Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, announced on Sunday that Shettima will attend the summit, which will include high-level dialogues, networking business sessions, and a plenary, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre in Dallas, Texas.

According to Nkwocha, African presidents Joseph Boakai (Liberia), Lazarus Chakwera (Malawi), Joao Lourenço (Angola), Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi (Botswana), and José Maria Neves (Cape Verde) are likely to attend the conference. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Nthomeng Majara, is also slated to attend the meeting.

Aside from the summit plenary, Shettima is scheduled to speak at the Roundtable on African Infrastructure Investment, with an emphasis on impact and returns. He is slated to speak on a high-level agribusiness panel titled “Transitioning from Food Insecurity to Thriving Agribusinesses.”

The Vice President will also speak at a plenary session titled Navigating Africa’s Energy Future and lead a session supporting the Invest in Nigeria programme.

He is also anticipated to hold further meetings and activities on the sidelines of the summit.
