Nollywood actor Wale Akorede, popularly known as Okunnu, has joyfully reunited with his family in Canada after spending eight years apart.
The comic Yoruba actor shared a touching video on Instagram showing the emotional moment he arrived in Canada. He was warmly received at the airport by his family and colleagues based there, with hugs and excitement filling the atmosphere.
Expressing his gratitude to God, Wale described the reunion as a blessing, noting that no distance or time could diminish the love of family.
“Alhamdulillah!!! God did! After 8 years apart, my family is finally whole again in Canada. No distance, no time, nothing keeps a family’s love apart. Canada feels more like home now that I am with my family,” he wrote.
The heartwarming post attracted numerous congratulatory messages from his Nollywood colleagues, including Wumi Toriola, Tawa Ajisefinni, Bimpe Akintunde, Toyin Adewale, Bimbo Afolayan, Esther Kalejaye, Opeyemi Aiyeola, Aisha Lawal, Fausat Balogun, and Biodun Okeowo, among others, who all rejoiced with him.
Despite the years of separation, Wale Akorede has consistently celebrated his children’s milestones from afar. In July, he proudly celebrated his daughter, Balikis Ayomide, who bagged another degree with honours. He praised her determination and reminded her that the world was hers to explore.
The actor had also celebrated her first degree in Biotechnology in 2023 and, around the same time, rejoiced as his son graduated from Humber College in Canada.
