West Ham United has successfully reached an agreement with Ajax for the acquisition of midfielder Mohammed Kudus. The deal, valued at approximately £38 million (€44.5 million), including performance-related add-ons, marks a significant move for the Premier League club.
The transfer involves an initial payment of €41.5 million (£35.59 million), with an additional €3 million (£2.57 million) contingent upon performance benchmarks. West Ham’s Technical Director, Tim Steidten, is reported to be in Bulgaria, where Kudus is currently situated. The player and the director are set to fly to London for Kudus’ medical examination, scheduled for Saturday.
Kudus’ recent contribution to Ajax was notable, as he scored a hat-trick in the Europa League play-off first leg against Ludogorets. This performance is anticipated to be his farewell appearance for the Dutch club.
Personal terms have been agreed upon for a five-year contract, with a provision for a potential additional 12 months. Kudus’ dynamic presence on the field is expected to bolster West Ham’s midfield capabilities as they aim to make a mark in the upcoming season.
