Hilda Bassey Effiong, aka Hilda Baci, a well-known chef, claims that several people disapproved of her quest. Her attempt to break the record for the longest cooking marathon by one individual was frowned upon. This is because many enviously thought she was “too blessed.” After surpassing India’s Lata Tandon’s previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes, Hilda reportedly achieved a new record of 100 hours of non-stop cooking.
However, Guinness World Record is yet to certify her; her attempt is currently under review.
But speaking as a guest on the latest episode of the I Said What I Said Podcast, Chef Hilda said many were unhappy with the attempt because they were intimidated by her beauty, skills, and charisma.
She said,
“There were a lot of ‘It’s not fairs’, like, ‘how can only her be fine, be hot, ah ah. How can only her have all these things? That’s not how life is.”
On the speculations that she paid for publicity, she said,
“The PR that we invested in, how much, how many was it? The kind of earned media that the attempt got, you can not pay for it. You can’t plan for it, you can’t pay it. It’s grace. You can only hope.”
