Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has accused former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi of lying about his wife’s profession.
The disagreement stems from Amaechi’s recent statement in an interview where he described his wife as an “industrialist.”
Wike, however, strongly refuted this claim, insisting that Amaechi’s wife is a trader and not an industrialist.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Friday, Wike expressed surprise that Amaechi would bring his wife into public discourse.
He questioned the basis of Amaechi’s assertion, asking which manufacturing companies his wife owns to justify the “industrialist” label.
“I know Amaechi’s wife very well,” Wike said. “Amaechi is insulting Nigerians. When did your wife become an industrialist? Which of the manufacturing companies does she own?”
He further criticised Amaechi for dragging family matters into politics, emphasising that political debates should remain focused on governance rather than personal lives.
Wike also mocked Rotimi Amaechi’s understanding of the terms “industrialist” and “trader,” suggesting that the former minister was either misinformed or deliberately misleading the public. “Amaechi doesn’t know the difference between industrialists and traders,” he remarked.
