In response to the news, Wizkid’s associate, Godson, has appealed for prayers for the singer, highlighting the emotional toll the loss of his mother has had on him. According to Godson, Wizkid is still grieving deeply and struggling to cope with the loss, and he has no one to support him through this difficult time.
“Add him to prayers personally, I think that nigga still grieving and nobody is helping him achieve this sad.”
Wizkid’s mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, passed away on August 18th, leaving the singer devastated. During her Night of Tribute, Wizkid broke down emotionally as he spoke at her funeral, revealing the profound pain he felt over her loss. Describing it as the deepest pain of his life, he admitted that life had felt meaningless to him since her passing, despite being a father to four children.
Wizkid’s mother’s funeral was a significant event, attended by a number of celebrities including Oba Elegushi, billionaire Tony Elumelu, Eniola Badmus, Osas Ighodaro, Wande Coal, and more. The service celebrated her life and legacy, but for Wizkid, it marked the beginning of a painful journey of grief.
Since his mother’s death, Wizkid has shared his ongoing struggle to find meaning in life. In a post, he reflected on how he made the song IDK as a form of expression about his feelings of emptiness. Despite the fame and success, the loss of his mother has left a void in his heart that no success or achievement can fill.
“Sometimes, one has to let everything go and work with God,” Wizkid shared, hinting at his attempt to find solace and healing through his faith.
He has also expressed a desire to feel like himself again someday, as he revealed that he feels completely lost in the wake of her passing.
On his mother’s posthumous birthday last year, Wizkid shared his raw emotions about celebrating the occasion without her. He poured his heart out, expressing how deeply he misses her every day and how empty life feels without her presence.
“I miss her daily, and my life feels empty without her,” he said in the emotional post.
Wizkid’s grief is ongoing, and as his associate Godson has asked, the singer continues to need support during this painful time.
