Chief Muniru Balogun, father of music star Wizkid, has opened up about his son’s ongoing feud with fellow Nigerian artist, Davido.
In a recent interview with Punch, Wizkid’s father acknowledged that he is aware of the tension between the two Afrobeat giants and the buzz it has created on social media.
Yes, I’ve read it. I saw it on Facebook or Instagram, and I read what everybody was saying,” Chief Balogun confirmed when asked about the widely discussed conflict.
Offering insight into how he has handled the situation, Chief Balogun revealed that he advised his son not to focus on the comments made by Davido’s supporters. He believes that many of these individuals are only trying to gain attention or financial benefit from the situation.
I told my son not to look or listen to whatever the boys who support Davido are saying. They are just looking for what they will say to collect money. I advised him to take things easy and overlook whatever is being said. I don’t blame them.”
When asked about his relationship with Wizkid, Chief Balogun expressed that despite his son’s global fame, their bond remains strong and they are in frequent communication.
We talk very often. He is not far from me at all. He is someone who values his family deeply and doesn’t joke with us. If I need to discuss anything, I call him, and he does the same. Family is number one to him.”
The close-knit relationship between Wizkid and his father showcases the star’s strong family values, even amidst the distractions of fame and public disputes.
