Woli Arole Condemns “Imbe Challenge”

Former Nollywood actor and preacher Woli Arole has expressed strong disapproval of the ongoing “Imbe Challenge,” a social media trend that mocks children with Down Syndrome.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Woli Arole described the challenge as “wrong, appalling, and distasteful.” He emphasized the need for society to show love and hope to children with this condition rather than ridicule.

It’s totally wrong and appalling that some content creators are doing a challenge called ‘Imbe Challenge,’ using it to mimic children with Down Syndrome. This is so appalling and very distasteful. People have kids living with this syndrome; all they need is love and hope from us, not mockery,” he wrote.

This isn’t the first time the preacher has taken a stand on societal issues. Last week, Woli Arole addressed what he called “woke” women who choose surrogacy despite being physically capable of carrying pregnancies. He urged women to embrace the blessing of carrying their children, warning against modern ideologies that might derail them.

In another instance, Woli corrected the notion that women should not have a voice in marriage. He reminded men that submission in marriage doesn’t equate to silence or inferiority, as women are their partners and helpmates.

Arole also spoke on the creeping influence of materialism in churches. He lamented the focus on money in sermons and worship, cautioning Christians that Christ’s mission was to grant eternal life, not material riches.

In a separate message to Nigerians living abroad, Woli Arole urged humility and discouraged the display of superiority over those residing in Nigeria. Recalling a personal experience, he said,

I saw someone, and the person told me he just got back from America in a prideful way. I replied, letting him know that I stay in Nigeria, and I am doing so well.”
