A viral clip featuring Yoruba Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola discussing her penchant for violent characters in movies has sparked reactions from netizens. During a live video session, Toriola defended her on-screen persona, asserting that her movie roles are a stark contrast to her real-life personality, emphasizing her commitment to portraying characters convincingly.
The mother of one, currently embroiled in an unspecified issue with an unidentified person, expressed frustration that viewers often confuse her movie roles with her true self, despite also excelling in love roles. However, netizens remain unconvinced by her clarification.
One individual, Barrister Dolapo, accused Toriola of toxicity, highlighting her tendency to go live on Instagram when facing conflicts, citing examples with Toyin Abraham and Seyi Edun. Dolapo expressed,
You are a bitter soul… the fact that you always come on live video anytime you have issues with someone shows you are too toxic… you did it to Shai and Toyin. Any wise person in your industry won’t move close to you again.”
Previously, Wumi Toriola had voiced her concerns about the types of roles she was landing in movies, particularly the violent ones, during the promotion of one of her films. She humorously touched on the impact these roles might have on her search for love.
It’s worth noting that Toriola also addressed rumours regarding an alleged affair with Toyin Abraham’s husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, dismissing the reports as false and diabolical on Instagram. Despite her efforts to clarify her on-screen persona, netizens remain skeptical about the actress’s real-life demeanour.
