Drama has ensued on social media following Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola’s recent post where she gave a shoutout to Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe for their successful movies but excluded Toyin Abraham’s ‘Malaika.’
On her Instagram page, Wumi Toriola expressed pride in Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe, who are presently breaking records with their respective movies, “A Tribe Called Judah” and “Ada Omo Daddy.” The actress acknowledged her colleagues as the real MVPs and jokingly asked her fans to recommend a suitable holiday period for the release of her blockbuster, preferably on a traditional festival date.
While Wumi Toriola received love from many fans, some netizens were displeased with her post, criticizing her for not including Toyin Abraham’s movie in her shoutouts. Some boldly questioned the absence of “Malaika,” suggesting that Wumi Toriola might be harboring negative sentiments about Toyin Abraham’s success.
In response to the trolls, Wumi Toriola confidently addressed their comments. One user, Ashaketowart, commented,
Yet you still weren’t invited to both… I love you cos of who you are but rest.” Wumi Toriola responded, “@ashaketohswt obviously u just called ur church member to sub for u, u ve been offline and off life, try spare 2mb to take a scroll backwards, we dont need ur love elesin.”
Another user, Oluwaseunrere, asked, “Wunmiiiiii Where is Malaika?” Wumi Toriola responded, “@oluwaseunrere_adebimpe showing in all cinemas nationwide.”
Later, Wumi Toriola shared a message, lecturing those expressing displeasure on her timeline, stating that it’s her space to post as she wishes. She added,
The way I twe for those who have a say on what I post on my own page… My own space ooo. Still, it’s xmas season, I forgive them.”
