Nollywood actress and producer Wumi Toriola has achieved a remarkable milestone by being ranked the second-highest-grossing producer in Nollywood.
Wumi Toriola has secured her place as one of Nollywood’s top producers, alongside fellow producer Judith Audu, as both women grossed N365 million at the box office. This feat places them just behind Funke Akindele, who earned over N1.1 billion from her productions, marking a significant moment in the industry.
In a statement celebrating her success, Wumi expressed her gratitude, saying, “Grateful still. Congratulations to all the film producers. Queen Lateefah is sitting pretty on No. 2. E clear still. Congratulations @judithaudu. We did a thing.”
In addition to her individual success, Wumi Toriola was also recognized for her successful collaboration with Captain of the Sea Productions. The partnership, which led to the box office triumph of Queen Lateefah, was hailed as one of Nollywood’s highest-grossing collaborations. Wumi praised the smooth and productive teamwork, thanking her collaborators and expressing hope for even greater success in 2025.

Despite being a newcomer to cinema, Wumi’s debut production was a massive success. Queen Lateefah earned an impressive N57.7 million on its opening weekend, setting the record for the highest-ever opening weekend for a Nollywood film by an independent distributor and the highest for a non-holiday weekend.
For this achievement, Wumi was awarded the title of Box Office Champion of 2024 by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).
Wumi’s success extends beyond the box office. Her YouTube presence has also flourished, with one of her films hitting 4 million views within just a month of its release. Additionally, she celebrated reaching 100,000 subscribers on YouTube in July, a milestone she described as monumental for her and her team.
Looking back on her journey, Wumi Toriola expressed her gratitude to Nigerians for the overwhelming support and love. She described her entry into the cinema world as initially uncertain, but the positive reception and success of her projects have exceeded her expectations.
