Nollywood actress Yetunde Barnabas has swiftly addressed and shut down rumours that she had given birth to her second child. The rumors, which were circulating on Facebook, claimed that Yetunde and her footballer husband, Olayinka Peters, had expanded their family.
However, Yetunde took to Instagram to set the record straight, sharing a screenshot of the Facebook post that falsely reported her new arrival.
While Yetunde acknowledged that the news of a new child is always a blessing, she urged people to stop spreading false information and to ensure they verify facts before posting. In her Instagram post, she expressed,
As seen on Facebook, I am not aware that I gave birth o, even though this is good news. Please stop spreading false rumors about me, and do your findings before posting. God’s time is the best.”
The actress also used the opportunity to promote her latest movie, The Return of Orisa Aiye, encouraging her followers to focus their energy on supporting her new film, which is currently showing on her YouTube channel.
In her message, Yetunde reminded her fans that “God’s time is the best,” and emphasized the importance of waiting for the right moment for life’s blessings.
This incident follows a growing trend of Nollywood stars confronting false news. Recently, actress Omoni Oboli responded to a false report about her colleague, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, allegedly welcoming a baby boy. Similarly, actress Eve Esin had to deny viral rumors about her pregnancy after 12 years of marriage, clarifying that she wasn’t married at all. Veteran actress Rita Edochie also voiced her frustration with the constant death rumors about her colleague, Osita Iheme (Pawpaw), expressing how social media has contributed to the spread of harmful misinformation.
In a related incident, actress Ronke Odusanya had to debunk claims that she had purchased a multi-million naira mansion, stating that the news was unfounded. Meanwhile, billionaire businessman E-Money faced accusations of an affair with the late actor Junior Pope’s wife, a claim he vehemently denied and vowed to take legal action against those spreading the rumours.
