Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has cried out over the brutal attack on his colleague, Ibrahim Bello Sanyay, better known as Baba Lawori.
Early this month, the Yoruba actor sought help from Nigerians after an aide of Lagos socialite Koko Zaria allegedly assaulted him. According to Fabiyi’s Instagram post, Baba Lawori was performing as a Master of Ceremony at an event on Idumu Day when a stranger approached him, claiming Koko Zaria wanted to see him.
It turned out to be a setup. Upon arrival, Koko Zaria questioned why Lawori didn’t acknowledge him. Despite Lawori’s apology and promise to make amends, one of Zaria’s associates smashed a bottle on his head, causing him to lose consciousness and bleed profusely.
Sharing a video of Baba Lawori being forced into a car, Yomi Fabiyi expressed his fear and prayed for his colleague’s recovery. He emphasized the seriousness of head injuries and questioned the silence of his colleagues and Nigerians. Fabiyi also revealed that he was dealing with his health issues but couldn’t ignore Baba Lawori’s plight.
“Omg! Just got this news. Lawori is a veteran actor-comedian, for heaven’s sake. I just pray this man does NOT die from this injury. HEAD INJURY IS SERIOUS. I am getting scared! How long are we going to be silent about this? I am posting this while I am seriously attending to my own health. But I can’t just ignore and never act. I FEAR ONLY GOD. The assailant is walking free with confidence that he is untouchable. MUST WE PROTEST BEFORE THE RIGHT THINGS ARE DONE?”.
Actor Damola Olatunji also commented under Fabiyi’s post, praying that Baba Lawori gets justice.
