Renowned Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has expressed support for Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Mohbad, amidst ongoing controversy surrounding the singer’s tragic passing. Aloba’s statements during the Coroner’s Inquest regarding his son’s widow, Wunmi, had sparked a wave of criticism.
During the inquest, Aloba accused Wunmi of infidelity and tampering with his late son’s food with sleeping pills, leading to public backlash, including disapproval from figures like Tonto Dikeh.
Offering his perspective, Yomi Fabiyi emphasized Aloba’s right as a human being to express his thoughts and concerns, separating the focus from property matters. Yomi acknowledged the possibility of Aloba’s claims about Wunmi, given her lack of denial, expressing concern for the emotional toll on Aloba, especially if there were doubts about the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam.
Yomi urged restraint in blaming Aloba, stating that the trauma of potential loss and uncertainty could be profoundly distressing, emphasizing the difference between discussing concerns and attributing wrongful accusations.
Expressing discontent with social media dynamics, Yomi cautioned against blindly following divisive narratives and demanded respect for diverse viewpoints and grieving processes, especially considering Aloba’s stance to secure what he perceives as rightfully his late son’s.
The actor urged an unbiased assessment and resolution for Aloba’s concerns and closure, stressing the need for fairness and the right of defense for Wunmi amidst the weighty allegations.
Notably, Yomi Fabiyi emphasized that the father’s grief and pursuit are primarily about his son, not material possessions. He called for a fair resolution that considers Mohbad’s concerns to ensure closure and justice for Aloba.
In a poignant development, Mohbad’s father expressed his anguish in a heartfelt song, lamenting how the world seemed against him, using his son as a point of contention, and expressing the pain of witnessing his child being used against him.
