Nollywood actor and former presidential aspirant, Yul Edochie, has taken to his Instagram to express disappointment over what he perceives as a high level of jealousy among Igbos.

In his post, Yul questioned the reasons behind the pervasive jealousy, especially among Igbo individuals who are doing well in their lives. He observed that some Igbos make their own family members their biggest critics, urging his fellow Igbos to rise above envy and competition for positive change.

Too much jealousy and envy amongst Igbos. Why?? If you’re doing well as an Igbo person, your biggest haters are your fellow Igbo person. Sometimes even your family members. Igbos, we need to do better. We’re great. Stop the envy. Stop the competition. Things change when we address them,” Yul wrote.

The post garnered mixed reactions, with some referencing Yul’s past marital scandal and others asserting that jealousy exists in all tribes.

Despite the criticisms, some agreed with Yul’s message, emphasizing the need for unity and support within the Igbo community. One user noted, “Forget the messenger and take the message, he’s saying the truth.”

However, opinions were divided, with some accusing Yul of tribal bias and others asserting that jealousy is a universal issue not limited to any particular tribe.
