Nollywood actor Yul Edochie is facing backlash for not celebrating his first daughter, Danielle Edochie, on her birthday. On April 11, Danielle, the eldest child of Yul and his estranged wife, May Edochie, turned a year older, but the actor remained noticeably silent.
While May shared a heartfelt tribute to her daughter, Yul’s absence online drew criticism from fans and followers. The actor broke his silence the following day by posting photos from a movie set, sparking a wave of condemnation in the comment section of his post.

The father-daughter relationship has been strained since Yul’s controversial marriage to his colleague. Danielle removed her father’s name from her social media profile, changing it from Danielle Yul Edochie to Danielle Diana Dubem. Reports suggest that Yul has also unfollowed Danielle on Instagram and ceased interacting with her posts.
May’s lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, revealed further details about Yul’s lack of involvement in his children’s lives. According to Ugwuonye, Yul does not pay child support or cover their school fees, leaving May to handle their financial responsibilities. He also alleged that Yul told Danielle to depend on her mother for financial support.
The incident has reignited criticism of Yul’s recent actions, with many accusing him of neglecting his family and prioritizing his new marriage over his children. Fans have called on the actor to repair his relationship with Danielle and his other children before the rift deepens further.
